SMALL SEEDS BIG IMPACT
Subak, the heart of Bali's harmony that we must protect.
Save Subak is a movement to preserve Bali's traditional irrigation system that has been passed down through generations. More than just a method of watering rice fields, Subak reflects the harmony between humans, nature, and spirituality through the philosophy of Tri Hita Karana.

The Subak system was recognized as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage in 2012 for its uniqueness and sustainability in maintaining ecological and social balance.
About Subak
The Subak system is a traditional irrigation system in Bali used to collectively manage rice field irrigation. Subak is not merely a technical system, but also a form of social organization based on the philosophy of Tri Hita Karana, which emphasizes balance between humans and God, humans and others, and humans and the environment.
Advantages of the Subak System
The Subak system is not merely an irrigation method, but also a cultural heritage that has proven effective in maintaining the balance of nature and the social life of Balinese farmers. Here are some of the advantages that make Subak a unique and sustainable agricultural system.

Efficient
Subak ensures water is distributed fairly through terracing and traditional channels, optimizing water usage without waste.

Environmentally Friendly
The tiered structure slows water flow, prevents erosion, and naturally maintains the balance of the rice field ecosystem.

Based on Local Wisdom
Subak relies on mutual cooperation and the philosophy of Tri Hita Karana, teaching balance between humans, nature, and God in agriculture.
